With COVID-19 seeming to get more serious and scary every day, it is necessary to take any and all precautions to keep yourself and loved ones safe. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recommends everyone have and wear face masks. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to buy them anywhere as some people think they need to hoard them. BUT, do not fret, there is hope. You can DIY some.
There are a few different ways to make masks at home, but I will be going over 3 at different difficulty levels with tons of pictures to make the process easier for you ☺️.
Difficulty Level: Easy
Materials:
Bandanna (or any square cloth about 20”x 20”)
two large hair ties
Ruler
Steps:
1. Fold bandanna neatly as shown in the pictures

2. Slide hair ties on both ends about one-third of the way in
3. Fold ends towards middle and tuck into each other

4. Done :)
Difficulty Level: Medium
Materials:
Cotton t-shirt
Scissors
Ruler
Steps
1. Cut across the shirt 7-8 inches from the bottom (might be a good idea to draw a line as a guide)

2. *This part is hard to explain so best to look at picture* about an inch from the top and bottom, cut a horizontal line 6-7 inches in, and then connect the two lines (a piece of fabric should fall)

3. Cut the two strings to make ties
4. There you go!
Difficulty Level: Hard (it's not that bad lol)
Materials:
Two 10”x6” rectangles of cotton fabric
Two 6” pieces of elastic (or rubber bands, string, cloth strips, or hair ties)
Needle and thread (or bobby pin)
Scissors
Sewing machine
Steps
1. Stack the two rectangles
2. Fold over the long sides ¼ inch and hem. Then fold the double layer of fabric over ½ inch along the short side and stitch down

3. Run a 6-inch length of 1/8-inch wide elastic through the wider hem on each side of the mask. These will be the ear loops. Use a large needle or a bobby pin to thread it through. Tie ends tight.

4. Gently pull on the elastic so that the knots are tucked inside the hem. Gather the sides of the mask on the elastic and adjust so the mask fits your face. Then securely stitch the elastic in place to keep it from slipping.
