Sky: Children of Light is a beautifully made game available on the Apple App Store (4.9/5.0 rating). It was first released in July 2019 and it is currently up for pre-register on the Google Play store. I was captivated by the game’s art and it still amazes me as I continue to play it. The alluring art and the high-quality graphics in this wholesome game make me so happy. (just look at the pictures!) Sky’s background music sounds ethereal and calming so headphones are highly suggested! The music definitely helps my imagination of being the character flying in the clouds.
In terms of gameplay, I think the game fits in the adventure and roleplay genre. The main goal in Sky is to travel through different realms to restore light and return fallen stars to their constellations. To travel around, you, of course, fly using the power of light from pretty creatures. Being around magical light creatures allows you to manifest their light powers as well. Before playing the game, I thought it was a singleplayer game. However, I was astonished to see other “children of light” in the same area as me. These were actual players that you could interact with. The interactions are so cute and wholesome. You can add players and perform a bunch of adorable emotes with them. Each time I interact with a player, many of them communicate with me back. Seeing the characters hold hands or hug just makes me smile. You can also customize your character as well by using candles of light as currency which can be obtained by complete side missions.
Throughout the game, I was continuously charmed by the scenery and lightened by the community. My curiousness kept me going through each stage and helped me meet new people. Although this might not seem like a typical app game that most people would play, I highly suggest downloading it and trying it out, especially if you appreciate the amount of work put into this game.
