Hello Dragons! For this issue, I will be showing you guys how to make “Bang Bang Shrimp.” This dish is similar to the restaurant Bonefish Grill’s famous appetizer. I actually saw this recipe on TikTok and I quickly tried making it. It was sooooo good. The sauce makes the crispy shrimp sweet with a little kick to it. I paired this dish with some cucumbers as a palette cleanser before stuffing myself with some more shrimp. I highly recommend trying to make this easy dish if you love shrimp.

Bang Bang Sauce:
¼ cup mayo
2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
1 tbsp honey
1-2 tbsp sriracha
1 tsp rice vinegar
Wet Batter:
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cornstarch
1 cup buttermilk*
2 eggs
Salt and pepper
Dry Batter:
2 cups panko/bread crumbs
1 tsp onion powder (optional)
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1 tsp dried oregano (optional)
Directions:
First, let’s make the sauce. Measure and combine all your ingredients into a bowl. Mix the sauce and set aside.
Next, combine your wet batter ingredients in a separate bowl. I didn’t have buttermilk, but I found a substitute. Add 1 tsp of vinegar to your 1 cup of regular whole milk. Make sure to mix the batter thoroughly to avoid clumps.
Then, on a plate, add your panko or breadcrumbs. You can also add the extra seasonings for the breading. If you do, mix your seasonings with the panko.
Dip your shrimp into the wet batter and then place it on the plate with the panko. Cover the shrimp with panko and set aside. Repeat for all your shrimp.
Time for the frying. Get a frying pan and pour some oil. Make sure the oil covers the bottom of the pan, and turn up the heat. You want the stove to be medium-high heat. To check if your oil is hot enough, stick a wooden chopstick in the oil and check if it bubbles. If it does, start adding your shrimp. Fry the shrimp until it becomes golden and flip it over. Shrimp cooks fast so each side will take only a minute or two. Once it’s done cooking, place the shrimp over a plate with paper towels to blot the oil.
You can coat all the shrimp in the sauce or dip it in the sauce. Plate and serve with fresh cucumber slices or lettuce. Enjoy!
