Hello Dragons! It’s been about a month since we’ve been back in school, and it’s been a while since we’ve covered some school events. Due to the effects of COVID-19, I’ve decided to shed some light on past events that we have yet to cover and to talk about how COVID-19 is affecting our school district. To start off, congratulations to the AcaDec team for doing amazing at the regional competition back in February! In Division I, they were awarded 1st Place Overall, 1st Place Super Quiz, and 1st Place Class Division. In Division II, they received 1st Place Super Quiz Division II and 1st Place Overall Division II. They have competed in the State Competition as a result of their hard work, which was streamed online on March 28, 2020.

Along with AcaDec, we also had Game Night that took place back on February 21, 2020 hosted by our Table Tops club! There were lots of games, such as Wii Sports, Just Dance, Mario Kart, and Smash! There was a Smash Tournament as well where you got the chance to be able to win a prize. On top of all this, there was a photo booth and food! Despite not being there personally, seeing the pictures and the stories really showed how memorable the event was! A lot of pictures were taken and memories were made, which made it a fun and lasting experience for everyone!

As many of you guys may or may not know, the Lodi Unified School District has implemented mandatory attendance along with grading for all of our classes which are now online. For the past couple of weeks, a lot of our assignments have been “optional,” and our attendance wasn’t really “required,” but this has now changed as of April 13. Online schooling may already be a hard transition for some of our students, seeing that it is not for everyone, but the teachers and staff are doing their best in order to help students with the transition. This includes providing breakfast and lunches for students at certain pick-up points, which can be found on their Instagram page. It shows that they are caring for us even if we are not seeing them in person. Along with all of this, it is incredibly sad for the seniors, seeing that they will be unable to attend prom, perform their senior play, and maybe not have their graduation on time. Despite all of this, our hopes are high so that they could have the best senior year.
