What’s up dragons! Hope you guys enjoyed the first Senior Spotlight, and if you haven’t read it, you can find it in the “Interviews” section of our site. This Senior Spotlight is on one of the bois, Dominic Kerns!

If you don’t know who Dominic is, you may remember him from our Spring Spirit Rally/Talent Show, where he was one of our AMAZING MCs! Since school has been moved online, Dominic has kept himself busy by watching Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. Some other activities that he has done since lockdown have been working out, as well as playing games with his friends.

Senior year was not what any of us could’ve imagined as our last year of high school. Dominic said, “I started my senior year with the expectation of getting to know a lot of my classmates that I previously didn’t really talk to, but it ended with the quarantine!” Despite quarantine taking a toll on the rest of his senior year, Dominic felt like it was still extremely memorable. He learned more about himself and others, which was something he didn’t expect.

“I will absolutely miss the bond that I have with my friends because after high school, I know that I will probably lose contact with a few of my classmates.”

Here’s some freshman/underclassman advice from Dominic: “Be good students.” He said that he wasn’t really the best student he could’ve been at the start of his high school career, and that he could’ve done more if he had applied himself. This ultimately inspired him to try harder throughout his sophomore and junior year! Another piece of advice that he shared is to enjoy the time you have with your friends. These years go by really fast!

Some of you guys may be curious about what’s in store for Dominic after graduating. On June 22nd, he will be leaving for San Diego to take part in United States Marine Corps Recruit Training, which will take 3 months to complete. After finishing basic training, he will then receive even more training to then be stationed somewhere! Good luck on your endeavors, Dominic!

Exciting things await for the class of 2020! Hope you all enjoyed this interview, and see you dragons next time with another Senior Spotlight!
